I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. You’ve heard of six degrees of separation, but in Milwaukee there is only two. Really. My husband can meet anyone, anywhere, any time in Milwaukee and after talking to them for a few minutes, figure out someone they know in common. This actually happens to me quite often too, and I haven’t even lived here my entire life like he has. The family in this post represents, not two degrees of separation, but only ONE. You see, Janet and I already knew each other but didn’t even know it. We actually corresponded about this photo shoot for a couple of months before we even realized it. It clicked with me when I saw her photo on facebook: I teach her kids (in my other life as a Spanish teacher!) Just after that, I ran into her at school and mentioned that I just figured out “who she was” and I don’t even think it registered with her what I was talking about. She was still thinking of me as “Señora Harris, the Spanish teacher” and hadn’t made the connection that I was also “Erin Harris, the photographer.” Anyway, I think it finally clicked with her when I emailed her as “Erin Harris, the photographer” and mentioned seeing her at school that day. OMG. Milwaukee really is that small. Kind of funny, huh?
Anyway…her two cutie pies are as sweet as can be, which I am sure you can see from these images. Miss L was as good as gold, posing and smiling like a pro, which from what I hear, wasn’t the case the last time they had a family photo shoot. Mr. four-year-old, however, was NOT diggin’ the photo thing so we had to do a lot of begging and bribing and tickling in order to make sure he wasn’t just a blur in the background. Somehow, believe it or not, I think I still managed to sneak a few shots that really show off his playful personality quite well. What do you think?
