Love is all you need. Those words, which hang above my living room fireplace carry more meaning for me now than ever before. And yet, I remember so clearly thinking about that song on Betsy and Jeremy’s wedding day. Looking at the forecast that morning, there was a chance of thunderstorms, and while I know that often times a bride might be disappointed by such a forecast, they say it’s good luck. Love is all you need, I thought to myself. I remember meeting Jeremy and Betsy for the first time at a coffee shop. I felt immediately comfortable around them. They were so lovely, happy, friendly, and clearly so in love. I met Betsy and Jeremy again on a beautiful, warm summer day on their boat for their engagement session. They spoke of their wedding day with such excitement about the delicious food and the lakefront venue, which has such special meaning for them since they spend so much time on the beautiful blue waters of Lake Michigan, but mostly about sharing their special day with their dear friends and family. I also had the pleasure of witnessing the connection between a group of special friends, many of whom I met one month earlier at Ashley and Tony’s wedding. I was touched by the unconditional support and love that these ladies shared, displayed through speeches poems, smiles, facebook posts and giant posters, such as the ones they used the day they rallied around Betsy as she ran the lakefront marathon. Betsy and Jeremy have found a beautiful love with one another. It was obvious to me on that very first day that I met them in the coffee shop. I could see it in their eyes when they said their vows, and it can clearly be seen in these images from their wedding day. But more than that, there is love all around them. They are enveloped in love from those that were present on their magnificent lakefront wedding day and from many more, who perhaps couldn’t make it, but send their wishes from afar. These important people in their lives will support them, guide them, carry them and remind them constantly that they are not alone in their love for one another. And that someone will always be there to cheer them on and lift them up. That’s what love is. And really, LOVE is all you need.
